Ted Lerner; Voice For International Sport Highlight Programs

Some of my favorite kinds of voice overs  I enjoy doing are when I get to voice  international sports highlight programs.  I have been a life long sports fan and sports has been a big focus of a lot of my writing and announcing career. There is nothing like the drama inherent in sport.  As a voice talent, my job is to translate that drama to the viewer.  I’m not a big fan of that over-the-top announcer style. I like to keep it real, because frankly the sporting stars are the real heroes and their actions speak mostly for themselves. However, with just the right voice, and exciting background music, the athletes’ exploits on the field, in the ring, or on the table can jump right through the screen and take viewers on a thrilling ride. There’s nothing quite like seeing the finished product.

This video above is sample from the 2014 World Pool Masters, produced by England-based Matchroom Sport. Matchroom is one of the world’s largest producer of televised sport. I often work for them doing play by play commentary for international pool tournaments they produce. I also regularly voice their highlight programs, which are seen worldwide.

I also voiced for the 2014 World Darts Championship. This highlight package was broadcast around the world. I haven’t been able to locate a video of the project, but here is an audio version of an intro to one of the episodes.
