In The Center of the Squared Circle at Pinoy Pride 24
I was able to find a really nice video from a recent fight I ring announced; The Philippines’ Genesis Servania vs. Venezuela’s Alexander Munoz. This fight was the main event of Ala Promotions’ Pinoy Pride 24, the longest running and biggest boxing fight series in Asia. I have been their ring announcer for several years now.
I have to say I’m looking pretty sharp in this video, but, lest you think I’m bragging, it’s more likely down to the two lookers who were standing on either side of me while I was announcing. Even a geriatric hairless orangutan would look amazing in that situation.
ALA’s fight cards are all shown on the Philippines’ largest broadcast television network, ABS-CBN, which reaches Filipinos around the world. This fight was also picked up on other networks in parts of the US and Latin America.
You couldn’t beat the atmosphere at Solaire Resort and Casino in Manila, which is an absolutely spectacular property on par with anything in Macau or Vegas.

There is nothing quite like standing in the middle of two warriors who are about to do battle, while millions of fight fans wait for the action to unfold. That three minutes that I’m standing there doing my thing is like having a bolt of electricity coursed through your body, and living to tell about it. I have nothing but the highest respect for all these guys who put their lives on the line each time they step in the ring, all for our entertainment. I hope my announcing helps bring that very real drama and excitement to the audience. That’s the ring announcers job in a nutshell.
